Fiber Processing Services

POLICIES AND PRICE LIST

We have a fiber processing queue. You are welcome to email to be added or check that you are on the queue, but we take customers in the order that you signed up. Be assured that we are actively processing fiber every day, and that we are going as fast as we can while still providing quality work. Sometimes there are delays caused by equipment problems, personnel issues, and farm emergencies. These are beyond our control.

We will notify you about two months before we are ready to accept your fiber. Due to storage limitations and liability issues, we are not able to store your fiber for long periods. If you are coming from a long distance and want to drop your fiber off, we will work with you to make arrangements for that. However, please understand that just because we have your fiber, doesn’t mean we’re actively processing it. There are clients ahead of you in the queue, and they have also been waiting for their turn. Please do not send us fiber without our prior authorization.

Once you have been notified that your turn is up in the queue and we have your fiber, please allow 2-12 months for us to finish processing it. If we contact you about your fiber and don’t hear back, we will move on to the next person in the queue. If you missed your turn and would like to be added back into the queue, we will work with you on placement.

We really appreciate properly prepared fleeces, as this speeds up our processing tremendously.  We provide skirting services, and I also teach a class in preparing your fleece for processing. We reserve the right to refuse to process fiber for any reason, including, but not limited to, moth or bug infestation, rodent infestation, lice nits, skin flakes, too short or long, gravel, vegetable matter, tenderness or excessive dirt. We will discard or pelletize any fleece that has no commercial value. We will ask you if you want fleece returned to you that may be suitable for hand processing.

Yarn Processing Policies: Our yarns are small batch, and we promise to do our best with each fleece that we process. Each fleece is unique, and some may produce better yarns than others. We charge extra for producing sale-ready skeins. Our skeins will not contain more than one knot, and the knot will not be within 20 yards of either end. We mark odd-length skeins clearly with a tag and the standard skein length will be noted on the label in the bag with the skeins. All of the other pertinent information will be on the label. We process yarns by color. For example, we will process all of the white fiber that we have before moving on to fawn, then brown, black and gray. We will invoice you and ship each color batch from your order as it's complete.

We require a $10/pound (incoming weight) deposit before we start processing your fiber. We will invoice you and ship products in batches as they are completed and the interim invoice is paid. We will apply your deposit to the final shipment. Failure to pay within 90 days from invoice will result in your order being considered abandoned. We will sell it to recoup our processing charges, as our employees don’t work for free.
